The High Line, New York: boomtown?

It has little more than two kilometers long and six years has changed the face of a neighborhood in New York. It is almost impossible to find on the websites traveler negative reviews of this place. The High Line, a park created on an elevated railway line, has become imperative appointment of tourists in the Big Apple. So much difficult some days to find New Yorkers in this crowded and beautiful walk. Can your success make this place unbearable?
The High Line park is one of those examples of successful recovery of unused space. An elevated railway track crossing the west side of Manhattan between buildings (and within them) and on streets and avenues was a great opportunity. Since the last train circulated through these channels in 1980 several alternatives were proposed. There were those who proposed dismantling. A group of neighbors of Chelsea suggested what is now a reality: a linear, narrow and elongated park, a train line. A spectacular ride that few can resist.
The first time I walked down the High Line was in 2010, a year after the opening of its first phase. From Gansevoort Street in the Meatpacking District to 20th Street It was a nice walk in the Manhattan safe from traffic. A corridor between old and new buildings, in a neighborhood where most already were art galleries and fashionable shops, gastronomic boutiques or lofts in renovated warehouses. And with views of the Hudson River, Tenth Avenue and the skyscrapers of Manhattan.

Five years later I returned to explore it. After opening two new sections, the High Line is now coming to 34th Street, two kilometers and 330 meters. It was in the evening and all the way was full of visitors, mostly foreigners. Unable to find that atmosphere of New Yorkers in their daily lives, employees of modern offices around in a moment of rest, waiting for inspiration artists, "muppies", "yuccies" and other tribes, "authentic" all those scenes when looking innocently forgetting that you are traveling in the tourist city in the world. And in the middle of August. There was even a couple of (true or false, I do not know) Buddhist monks seeking the bonus.
One thing is for perceiving the reception given to the High Line Park. In the web of Tripadvisor travelers place it in eighth place in the 896 things to do in New York. Among the 23,000 hard to find any negative reviews. Perhaps only who warns that better not to go at the weekend. "Do not fit," he says.
The High Line runs between the Tenth and Twelfth Avenues, on the west side of Manhattan. It has a great reception amphitheater on Tenth Avenue. They are spectacular views over the street 23 away into the horizon across the city from one river to another. The route passes even through several buildings including the renovated Chelsea Market: the railroad was for goods and wagons could download and directly in factories or warehouses. Sunbeds at the height of 14th Street and with direct views over the river are also very appreciated. Without forgetting that it is a linear park where it grows a wide variety of plants and small ecosystems.

The end of the High Line in the southern part now has another attraction for travelers: the new Whitney Museum of American Art, with its interesting collection and its splendid terraces. A more appealing to the Meatpacking District and Ninth Avenue, essential trendy in New York. Hopefully both claim do not die the splendid High Line underfoot by mass tourism.  carnival 2016
