Republic Square

Built during the urban development carried out after the capital of Rome, the Republic Square (Piazza della Repubblica) is one of the main squares of the city and one of the most beautiful.

The Republic Square is formed by a large roundabout where stands a beautiful fountain surrounded by imposing buildings on one side and a temple-like crumbling other.
Also it is known as the Plaza de la Exedra, as it is located in the place in which an exedra (Building semicircular outdoor seating) in times of Diocletian was built.

The Fountain of the Naiads

In the center Republic Square stands majestically Fountain of Naiads, built between 1870 and 1888 with figures of four lions. In 1901 the lions were replaced by statues of four naked nymphs that represent water, which managed to shock people at the time.

One of the most beautiful
