Spain Square

Spain Square is one of the most famous squares in Rome . Your name (Piazza Spagna) is given by the location of the Spanish Embassy to the Holy See in that post since the seventeenth century.

Plaza of Spain is located in one of the best areas of Rome: the Via dei Condotti (famous street for shopping ), the Via Frattina and Via del Babuino (with several palaces of the seventeenth and eighteenth century) are some of the most outstanding city streets.
You walking down the Via del Babuino will arrive to Piazza del Popolo , where the Flaminio obelisk, an obelisk of 24 meters is once adorned the Circus Maximus . You will arrive climbing your stairs to the Pincio Terrace, one of the best viewpoints in Rome.

The stairs of the square, built in the early eighteenth century to communicate the square with the Church of Trinita dei Monti, are the most special area of the square.

Fontana della Barcaccia

The fountain in the center of the square was designed by Pietro Bernini for Pope Urban III. Its construction was completed in 1627 by her famous son, Gian Lorenzo Bernini.
