It's been a couple of years ago I visited a destination that has fascinated me all my travels, Cartagena de Indias.
This Colombian pearl is a charming area, will not say unknown because
it really is not, but that time is not so popular in Spain. If one day I disappear, seek me in the Colombian Caribbean,
where more than 2,000 kilometers of coastline that encompasses more
than 300 beaches, crystal clear waters, rich seabed and hotels where to
disconnect yourself. Can I accompany you?
It is not surprising that when the Spanish conquistadors arrived in Cartagena de Indias in 1533, they did to stay. Location and exceptional beauty, this gem of colonial architecture is today the most tourist city of Colombia (and not say the nicest because I still have much to discover this amazing country). So far I do not pronounce me but I'm talking about all of which can be found here.
Where to eat in Cartagena de Indias:
the clear commitment of the city for quality tourism also includes good
food, so it is unacceptable to reserve a table (and go hungry please)
in restaurants and 8-18 (www.restaurante8- 18.com), Don Juan or The Victrola. Delicious with an interesting basis of fresh seafood that will seriously jeopardize your diet.
Although as once here not worth depriving yourself of anything, the
best thing you can do to burn the excesses of dinner is, mojito in hand,
moving the hips at the legendary Café Havana (www.cafehavanacartagena.com) outside the walls of the Old City, in the heart of Gethsemane. Attention also to the street food stalls to eat rich, authentic and caloric as arepas photo
My authentic Colombian passion!
Cartagena is an outdoor museum
protected by more than 10 kilometers of walls and forts, the remains of
a military background who watched over the protection of the city's
countless attacks. Today, tourists and locals enjoy the excitement of blue, yellow and red that adorn the facades of its colonial architecture.
Also they make touring places like the Arcade of the Scribes, the Plaza
de Santo Domingo, the Portal de los Dulces (where to find rich desserts
stalls) or Bolivar Park, essential places to visit, besides the house
of García Márquez built by the most famous architect of Colombia, Rogelio Salmona.
I remember that landed in Cartagena for a stay of three days and after falling in love madly in the narrow streets of the Old City,
reminded myself to stay almost a week immersed in a Creole festival of
flavors, floral decorations and elegant mansions now house among its
thick stone walls and charming small hotels and fine restaurants.
Where to stay in Cartagena: Cartagena there are many nice things, but that their hotels are the most. One of the best examples is Casa Pestagua (www.hotelboutiquecasapestagua.com), the most representative of the city. Only it has 11 spacious rooms and a pool that hypnotizes. All a haven of peace with tropical air that make this beautiful hotel in Cartagena in a real Caribbean oasis. And watch out because here you can have breakfast also the best arepas in town.
